adidas Launches Dropset 4 — One Shoe for Lift, Jump, and Run

January 20, 2026

Built for functional training without compromise.

What’s Happening

adidas has unveiled the Dropset 4, its most versatile functional training shoe to date. Lauched January 8, 2026, the updated model is designed to handle heavy lifts, explosive jumps, and short runs (up to 800m)—all in a single session.

The shoe debuts amid a simple insight: 7 in 10 gym-goers train in the wrong footwear. Dropset 4 aims to cut through that problem with a true cross-functional build—stable under load, responsive on impact, and runnable when workouts demand it.

Why It Matters

Functional training has evolved. Today’s workouts blend barbell strength with plyometrics and conditioning, often in the same circuit. Dropset 4 reflects that reality—one shoe, no swaps.

Competitive training athlete Laura Horvath, who wore Dropset 4 to victory at an elite competition in October 2025, anchors the launch alongside a roster of adidas partners across sport and culture.

Inside the Shoe

Key updates powering the “do-it-all” claim:

  • Full-Length Repetitor Foam – Consistent stability with energy return to sustain long sessions
  • EnergyRods – Balanced stiffness and flexibility for force distribution during lifts and propulsion in jumps
  • Continental™ + Adiwear Rubber – Targeted traction and durability for sleds, lunges, and loaded work
  • FOOTADAPT Sockliner – Improves foot awareness and balance control for better form
  • Haptic Print Upper – Abrasion resistance without sacrificing breathability

Together, the platform delivers confidence across deadlifts, box jumps, shuttle sprints, and warm-up runs—without changing shoes.

Athlete-Tested

  • Hailey Van Lith: “From shuttle sprints to deadlifts—having one shoe that supports it all lets me focus on performance.”
  • Caio Cabral: “The perfect mix of stability, grip, and comfort—no matter the intensity.”

Availability

Dropset 4 is available January 8, 2026, on adidas.com and in select retail locations.

The Playbook Take

As training gets more hybrid, footwear has to follow. Dropset 4 isn’t chasing specialization—it’s embracing versatility. For athletes who lift heavy, move fast, and still need to run, adidas is betting one well-built shoe beats five niche ones.
